New HTC Sensation Rumored to Feature HD Display, Beats By Dre Posted: 02 Sep 2011 01:39 AM PDT If you thought the first HTC Sensation was a beast, then you're going to fall in love with the rumored HTC Sensation Special Edition that will likely include a bump in processor speed, screen resolution, and may be the first handset to feature Beats by Dre technology. The specifications match up pretty well with those of the HTC Vigor, a device that's rumored to be heading to Verizon, but it's unclear if these are separate devices (most likely) or one in the same. Whatever the Sensation Special Edition is, it's apparently rocking a 1.5GHz dual-core processor which is up from the 1.2GHz dual-core found on the original HTC Sensation, a 4.3-inch Super qHD LCD HD display, an 8MP rear camera, VGA front facing camera, a battery increase from 1520 mAh to 1730 mAh, and 4GB of internal storage space. It'll also run an unknown version of Android and will feature a Beats in-ear handset with a remote control. The device itself is apparently fine tuned to work with the handset which will give owners an optimized audio experience. As for pricing, it will apparently cost £520 in the UK which translates to $847 U.S. dollars. Doubtful that it will be that expensive on contract but with the headphones selling for$120 alone, it's possible. No word on a release date but it would be surprising not to see this announced at the IFA conference in Berlin this week. Any takers? Via: CNET
HTC Vigor Finally Leak Pictures Posted: 02 Sep 2011 12:41 AM PDT HTC Vigor Finally Leak Pictures Say hello to the HTC Vigor. This bad boy pictured below is the new HTC Vigor that will be landing on Verizon sometime early October if leaks are correct. This will be the replacement to the HTC Thunderbolt. Yes the Vigor will be that awesome. Although at first look this looks very similar to the HTC Incredible with the weird backing and red accents, just saying.
First leaks of the Vigor suggested a 1.5 Ghz dual-core CPU, Verizon 4G LTE, a 4.3″ 720p HD display with the qHD branding and more. While details are still very thin with this just leaking it does look pretty and we also have a picture of the front. The more I look at the pictures this seriously just looks like a Droid Incredible, but then again we have this leaked roadmap clearly stating the HTC Vigor will replace the HTC Thunderbolt so some would assume it would be a bigger brother or something similar. We don't have a kickstand and the rear does look nothing like the Thunderbolt so this could very well be some sort of follow up to the Incredible to carry along with DROID branding, Maybe the HTC Droid Incredible LTE. HTC recently acquired Beats Audio and we heard a few sources suggest phones would get some sort of branding in the future but we aren't seeing that here either. What does everyone think? Incredible LTE or a Thunderbolt replacement?
iPhone commercials feature FaceTime and AirPlay Posted: 02 Sep 2011 12:05 AM PDT iPhone commercials feature FaceTime and AirPlay
Apple has aired two new iPhone commercials. The first features the capabilities of FaceTime on the iPhone. It shows users video chatting via FaceTime iPhone to iPhone, iPhone to MacBook Air, and iPhone to iPad. The second iPhone commercial showcases the iPhone’s AirPlay features. The commercial shows a user streaming music from an iPhone to their stereo, and pictures and video to their TV. The ads are part of Apple’s “If you don’t have an iPhone” series. Madden NFL 12 goes long for Android and iOS Posted: 01 Sep 2011 11:45 PM PDT Madden NFL 12 goes long for Android and iOS It’s a sign of the smartphone/tablet times that on the same day EA released Madden NFL 12 for Xbox 360, PS3, and other game consoles (read CNET’s First Take), you could also buy it for your Android or iOS phone or tablet–for considerably less money, I might add. Indeed, with price tags of just $6.99 for iPhone, $7.97 for Android, and $9.99 for iPad, these mobile versions are the Madden NFL 12 deal to beat. Ah, but is there anything here to entice owners of Madden NFL 11? Or even Madden NFL 10? Those two games were already pretty spectacular, especially the Retina-optimized Madden 11. But Madden 12 is about as evolutionary as sports-franchise sequels can be, offering few improvements in either looks or gameplay. Sure, you get updated team rosters and playbooks, which is probably enough for hard-core fans, but for the most part it’s the same game as Madden 11. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Madden 11 is what I’d call a showcase app, especially on the iPad. (See Scott Stein’s review of Madden 11 for iPad; he calls it “one of the iPad’s star games.”) And EA does promise nicer-looking animation and collisions, plus “enhanced” graphics for the iPad 2. (Alas, I wasn’t able to see them for myself, as I’m still cradling a lowly iPad 1.) Purists will certainly point out that even enhanced graphics can’t hold a candle to what you see on a full-fledged console. And, sure enough, Madden 12 still looks a bit chunky, closer to what you’d see on a PS2 or PSP. But on a screen as small as the iPhone’s (and even the iPad’s), that’s OK. What’s more important is how the game plays, and I think Madden NFL 12 is a blast. Thanks in no small part to GameFlow, a feature introduced in Madden 11, it’s uniquely accessible to newbie players and those who just want to, well, play football. Like me. One bit of gameplay advice: consider adding at least one Fling or Logitech Joystick for iPad. These virtually identical suction-cup ‘sticks make controlling the action considerably easier. Madden 12 may be a bit disappointing in its lack of revolutionary new features, but I can appreciate that it’s getting hard for EA to improve on a game that’s been fine-tuned a dozen times already. If you want the single best football experience for Android or iOS, look no further. Madden NFL 12
